A Findlay man was sentenced to nine years in prison this morning for robbing Vito’s Pizza, 1500 N. Main St., with a knife on Nov.21.

Christian T. Kryling, 38, was sentenced for aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, by Hancock County Common Pleas Judge Joseph Niemeyer.

Kryling spoke at length at his sentencing this morning and told Niemeyer he wants to appeal his case.

He faced a maximum of 10 years in prison, but Niemeyer accepted the agreement reached between prosecution and defense counsels for the nine-year sentence.

Police said Kryling entered the pizzeria wearing a mask, brandished a knife and demanded money from the cash register. He fled on foot after the clerk gave him money and was arrested by police the next day.

County Assistant Prosecutor Drew Wortman did not ask for restitution in the case because the money was recovered, he said.

More details from this story will appear in Friday’s edition of The Courier.
